Pyrography project of an Islamic pattern

  • In this two minutes video, I used the geometry and the Islamic art design to create the famous islamic Eight-pointed star on wood.
  • Islamic decoration makes great use of geometric patterns which have developed over the centuries. Many of these derived from various earlier cultures: Greek, Roman, Byzantine,Central Asian, and Persian.
  • The shading in this piece was linear which is a very easy technique of shading.
  • The design is easy once you got the idea.
  • The lines can be burned easily by the help of a metal ruler.

Obama burned on wood

I was touched by the success of Obama 4 years before as the first African American to reach the White House.
Few months before he was able to repeat his triumph.
His tweet " Another four years sky rocketed in twitter.
I have no interest in politics, I am not an American after all.
Yet i was inspired by the story of the man.
In this project I used the Pyrography / wood burning to burn the Obama's face on the wood!!
Funny as it sounds but i enjoyed it so much
I recorded the steps from the copying of the face using carbon/graphite paper through the painting of the wood till finishing the piece.
It took me two days to finish this piece.

How to shade simply using Pyrography / wood burning

Shading is what gives more life to any drawing
I was always looking for an easy way of shading my drawings on wood
I believe that this technique is the easiest and the fastest .
Simply by applying parallel lines close to each others
The intinesty of the shades increase by intersecting one group of parallel lines with another
I use a cheap wood burner which is in capable of shading large areas yet this techniques is very suitable for My burner and give a great finish

An awesome collection of woodburning collection

This video shows 8 woodburning / pyrography projects
The animals specially the predators are the subjects of all the pieces
The drawings is so live and appealing
The nature of the wild animals make it more vivid and mysterious.
I really was taken by the mix of painting and pyrography in the wolf piece, the mix between wood
carving and pyrography in the second wolf piece.
The touches are very accurate.
The pictures were not copied to wood using carbon or graphite which make it more difficult for the pyrographer.
By the end I should refer to the artists channel that I have subscribed to it to see future piece.

How to transfer a pattern to wood using ironing technique ?

An important step for any pyrography creation process is the copying of the pattern to the wood
i use the simple carbon / graphite copying technique
but how about other techniques?
in this video the pyrographer uses a very easy technique to transfer his pattern from paper to wood
simply by ironing the paper with its face down to the wood
the good thing about it that the full details are copied which will make the burning step more and more easy
yet some pyrographers may find it less appealing since they need more room for their talent to be expressed and added to the original patter
however it so nice and easy especially for beginners
enjoy it

I could never imagine Wooden Kitchen Spoons can be more beautiful!

The Cottage Watch spoon is considered as the signature piece for many Pyrography artists

What is the designs to be burned to this small area?
What is the techniques to be followed on this type of wooden pieces?
What is the best burner to be applied to this wooden piece?
  • The common patterns to be burned are leaves, flowers and plant drawings in general This is quite suitable for the small area for the wooden spoon rather than animals and Landscapes.
  • Generaly these relatively small drawings need special techniques to handle thier small sizes And managing the curves within these patterns.
  • The Nipsburner has a very nice device that can be used in creating these nice patterns starting from 99$ http://www.nibsburner.com/

In the following video an expert pyrographer demonstrate all this very simply

I recommend you to subscribe to his youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuq-Ml9GDdlYA3I6vjux3pA?feature=plcp

How about a video to demonstrate all this?

How to draw an eagle's head using pyrography

It is always a challenge to have a feather like effect using pyrography.
In this piece i applied a very easy way to have this feather like effect
Simply i divided the head into arcs
Then i applied patient tiny strokes using the wood burner inside each arc
The intenisty of the strokes increases in dark areas as in the area directly below the mouth and are light at the brighter ones as in the areas beside the eyes
You will need just time and patience to have a similar piece
